What is Brunswick Mill?
Dating back to 1837, Brunswick Mill was once among the largest mills in the country, with 35 loading bays facing directly on to the Ashton Canal. Built in 1839 by David Bellhouse, it was later acquired by The Bannerman Mills Company in 1865, becoming a powerhouse in textile manufacturing. In 1908, it reportedly became the first mill in Manchester to adopt electricity, and by 1910, it served as the head office of Bannerman Mills. Cotton production ceased in 1960, however the building’s legacy continued.
In June 1995, Brunswick Mill was classified as a Grade II listed building, preserving its architectural charm. Over a decade later, it became home to Brunswick Mill Rehearsal Studios, a creative hub for Northern bands and even featured in one of Liam Gallagher’s music videos.
Today, the mill is being reimagined into 153 luxury apartments, combining its rich heritage with modern design to cater to Manchester’s growing demand for high-quality urban living.
